I would not have thought there could be much that is scarier than being a young person thousands of miles from home in a position of basically kill-or-be-killed (at least in your own mind and thanks to your training) at all times. You’d think I would have a broader imagination than that, really, considering.
It seems that for many men in the military, any military, there is no such thing as a woman who is not also an enemy. Even if she’s you’re fellow soldier.
